Strength Without Self Overide

Exploring strength, resilience, and the pressure
to just keep going.

Many of us have been encouraged to be strong.

To keep going.

To persevere.

To push through.

Sometimes those messages have helped us through incredibly difficult times.

They remind us that we are capable of more than we might think.

That challenges can be met.

That hard things can be faced.

That hard things can shape us without becoming all of who we are.

That effort matters.

That growth is possible.

There is real value in that.

But strength can sometimes become

something else.

A source of pressure.

A standard we feel we must constantly meet.

A reason to ignore what we're feeling.

A reason to keep going even when something in us is asking for attention.

A reason to believe needing support means we've failed.

This series explores some of the messages many of us hear about strength, effort, resilience, and what we think we’re supposed to do.

Not because they are wrong.

But because they are often incomplete.

"I can do hard things."

"Push through."

"Never give up."

"You have the same 24 hours as everyone else."

When Strength Becomes Pressure

Many of these ideas contain something useful.

But wisdom can become pressure when it doesn’t leave room for what’s actually going on in your life.

This series widens the lens.

It explores the difference between strength and self-override.

Between persistence and self-abandonment.

Between resilience and taking on more than we have room for.

Because being capable doesn't mean everything has to be difficult.

Because asking for support isn't weakness.

Because creating conditions that make life more workable isn't giving up.

And because strength doesn't have to come at the expense of connection to yourself.

If This Felt Familiar
